In a heartbreaking incident in Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh, an 18-year-old woman reportedly took her own life after her partner was killed. Authorities stated that the young woman ingested poison. Identified as Ankita, she was found deceased at her home on Saturday, with an empty pesticide container nearby, according to Additional Superintendent of Police (Dehat) Sagar Jain.
The victim's partner, 22-year-old Mahil, was murdered the previous day, leading his family to accuse Ankita's relatives of involvement in the crime. They organized a protest demanding swift action from the authorities. Jain mentioned that Ankita's two younger brothers have been taken into custody for questioning. The body of the deceased has been sent for an autopsy, and a comprehensive investigation is underway.
Stabbing Incident in Jharkhand
In a separate case from Jharkhand, a 24-year-old woman allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death following a dispute over their marriage in the Chatra district. Reports indicate that Md Muntajir, 34, from Sasang village in Latehar district, visited his girlfriend Shabbu Praveen, also known as Noorjahan, on Thursday evening in Lamta village, which falls under the Lawalong police station's jurisdiction.
The meeting escalated into an argument, resulting in Noorjahan stabbing Muntajir during a confrontation about their relationship. He was rushed to Chatra Sadar Hospital and later referred to RIMS-Ranchi, where he succumbed to his injuries, as per police reports.
Noorjahan has been apprehended, and the knife used in the incident has been recovered. According to Prashant Mishra, the officer in charge of Lawalong police station, the victim provided a statement before his death, which led to the filing of an FIR. The accused was subsequently remanded to judicial custody by a court on Friday.
